Carracci Reproduction

This work of art is a reproduction of part of the fresco “Triumph of Bacchus and Arianna” painted by Annibale Carracci at the Farnese Gallery (1600, Rome). The theme is the exultation of mythological and heroic characters: the gods’ love. Representation of a wedding procession, with the two newly weds Bacchus and Arianna seated on two chariots, one is golden and led by two tigers, while the other is silver and led by two rams. They proceeded accompanied by dancing characters with musical instruments. The mixed earth pigment tempera has been realized on the canvas, finished with an antique effect light earth shadow patina, applied on the ceiling surface.
