PHILOSOPHERS ROOM

Painted decoration ex novo of the coffered ceiling with "faux bois" technique performed on site. Preparation of the ceiling with two coatings of yellow ocher color, typical decorations of various walnut grain, applying two coatings of waxed effect fixative and final coating of umber color glaze applied by hand beating , gilding with gold mica with shiny antique on the rosettes, the various frames and related fusaroles. Pictorial decoration in ''New Renaissance'' style on the coffered ceiling’s perimeter band in the "Philosophers Room" of the Historical Archive. The decorated band was divided in a repeated interplay of 24 panels of allegorical putti of various arts and sciences decorated in pictorial monochrome effect on a gold micaceous surface; 16 niches containing busts of ancient poets, Greek and Roman writers and philosophers, alternated by 48 small fluted pilasters with Corinthian capitals, decorated in "stucco" effect with “monochrome” technique. The band painted in classical "trompe l'oeil" was not performed on site but prepared on a canvas using an ancient technique. The decorations were hatched with pigments of earth powder colors mixed with rabbit skin glue following the classical technique. The final phase was completed with a umber color coating applied by hand beating .The two important pilasters positioned at the two sides of the room were decorated on the three fronts each with "stucco" effect technique and gilding with gold leaf on grooves, on moldings of the capitals and bases .The four window splays of the room were decorated with four squares containing "panoplies" of Arts and Sciences instruments performed using "stucco" effect technique and gold highlights. The application of the various parts of canvas was completed with "rice glue" spread on the intended surface.

 

EMPERORS ROOM

Painted decoration ex novo of the coffered ceiling with "faux bois" technique performed on site. Preparation of the ceiling with two yellow ocher coatings, typical decorations of the various walnut grains, applying two coatings of fixative with waxed effect, final light earth shadow coating applied by hand beating, gilding with gold mica with shiny antique of the rosettes, the various frames and related fusaroles. Pictorial decoration in ''New Renaissance'' style with perimeter band of the paneled ceiling of the "Emperors Room" of the Historical Archive. The decorated band was divided in an alternating interplay and repetition of 12 boxes containing 8 flying griffins with central torch and 4 boxes containing a panoply of shield with the effigy of Rome’s “wolf”, decorated in monochrome pictorial effect on gold micaceous background; 16 niches containing busts of the Emperors of Rome, interspersed by 32 small flutes pilasters with Corinthian capitals, decorated in monochrome "stucco" effect. The "trompe l'oeil" classic band was performed outside the site on a canvas prepared with an ancient technique. The decorations were hatched with pigments of earth colors powdered with rabbit skin glue as the classical technique requires. The overall decoration was completed with an umber color coating applied by hand beating. The two splays in the room were decorated with boxes containing "panoplies" of classic armor with "stucco” effect technique and golden highlights. The plinth of the room’s walls was painted with a molding on the upper edge with " stucco" effect; the inside of frame was completed with a shoal in "monochrome" color. The application of the various parts of canvas was completed with "rice glue" spread on the surface intended.
